Contracts issues are solved and it's go time!
Happy Wednesday, Niner Faithful! This truly might have been the wildest week in 49ers history. But the avengers have all assembled, and it’s time to take down the Jets in week 1! Can’t wait to get into it at all:
Weekly Updates
Brandon Aiyuk & Trent Williams have ended their holdouts and we can now focus on football!

As I’m sure you know, Ricky Pearsall got shot in a robbery attempt. Thankfully, the latest we’ve heard is all positive and John Lynch believes Pearsall will play this season!!
Christian McCaffrey is back practicing this week!
Leonard Floyd seems to be fine. Talking about his knee injury during the preseason game he said, “It was nothing. They overhyped it. I’m fine.”
Random Tidbits from the Week
Former 49er Alex Smith was inducted into the Utah Football Ring of Honor! Alex is a super easy guy to root for, and I wish him and his family the absolute best!
We’ve got a few jersey number changes!
RB Isaac Guerendo is switching from 49 to 31
CB Renardo Green is switching from 31 to 0
WR Jacob Cowing is switching to Deebo’s old number: 19
S Malik Mustapha is switching from 43 to 6

Season Preview
One fairly consistent theme I’ve noticed the past few weeks is national media members being very ‘down’ on the 49ers this season. They say the team is getting older, or the vibes are bad this offseason, or any other myriad of problems they like to mention (oh yeah, don’t forget that they think Brock is still just a game manager). Maybe 3, 4, 5 months from now we will look back and say that many of these pundits were correct and the 49ers fizzled out this season. I, however, am extremely bullish on this season and think this whacky offseason will work in their favor.
First of all, the 49ers roster is arguably better than last season. Aside from the Linebacker position while we wait for Dre Greenlaw to return from injury, the rest of the position groups have seemingly either stayed the same or gotten better. This IS the most talented roster in the NFL.
This could be the whackiest offseason in 49ers history (Pearsall shot, Aiyuk & Trent crazy long holdouts, etc), and maybe the chaos of the offseason will throw this team into disarray. OR maybe all of this has galvanized these players and motivated them. In Trent Williams’ press conference earlier this week he said he came back earlier so he could be with the team after the shooting of Ricky Pearsall. This team cares about each other and loves each other. John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have built a tremendous culture within the organization and my opinion is that this offseason has brought this team closer together.
So yes, maybe everyone has gotten a year older and a number of key players have missed a lot of preseason practices, but this team will be cohesive and HUNGRY.

FOUR-ty Niners Graphics

The 49ers held a party before the season starts, and I can’t get over all the pictures of Shanahan!

Brock Purdy hosted (almost all) of the 49ers O-Linemen at his house for a little BBQ! I love seeing the team bonding that happens with this crew 🍗

I absolutely love this pic of former 49er great Joe Staley with his kids. Staley was an awesome 49er, and I’m sure is an amazing dad!

Fred & Sydney Warner looked absolutely dashing at the 49ers party, and I’m sure this was one of the few nights out together they’ve had since the birth of their baby boy!
FOUR-ty Niners Facts
1) When the 49ers and Jets meet on Monday, it will be the first time since the NFL merger in 1970 that the two teams who led the league in most yards per play (49ers - 6.6) and fewest yards allowed per play (Jets - 4.6) from the prior season will meet in an opener!
2) In his career so far, Brock Purdy is 8-0 vs NFC West opponents!
3) The 49ers franchise has the 7th most Hall of Famers of any franchise. The 49ers have 30 Hall of Famers. The Chicago Bears have the most Hall of Famers in history with 39.
4) Javon Hargrove is making more money this season than Fred Warner, Christian McCaffrey, and George Kittle 😱. We need Hargrave to produce the way he’s capable this season!
Highlight of the Week
49ers vs Jets brings back one core memory for you: this incredible 96-yard TD run by Garrison Hearst to beat the Jets in OT back in 1998. That matchup was also in week 1 of the season and a home game for the 49ers! Will history repeat itself?

That’s all for today! The countdown is on for Monday Night Football vs the Jets (yes, I literally have a countdown on my phone home screen 🙃). The Jets will really be a great test, and honestly, regardless of results or how the team looks in week 1, I just can’t wait to watch meaningful 49ers football again!

Bang Bang Niner Gang!
