Recapping a new low for the 49ers
Happy Tuesday, Niner Gang! I hope everyone has some nice Thanksgiving plans with friends and family, or however you enjoy spending your holiday. While there is a lot to be thankful for in our lives, watching the 49ers lately has not been one of those things! I will always love my niners, but there’s no denying they’ve created a lot more frustration than happiness for us lately! Let’s recap:
Weekly Updates
Let’s start with something to be thankful for: Dre Greenlaw has been cleared to return to practice this week!
O-Lineman Jon Feliciano will officially be shut down for the season. Feliciano was supposed to provide O-Line depth and potentially slide in as the starting center, but his season is now over.
As of Tuesday, both Trent Williams and Nick Bosa are considered day-to-day this week after missing the game vs Green Bay
G Aaron Banks & DT Jordan Elliott are in concussion protocol
Dominick Puni (shoulder) and Deommodore Lenoir (knee) are getting MRIs this week
Tidbits from the Week
The 49ers’ odds of making the playoffs currently are ~18%

The weather in Buffalo for this week’s game is looking like it will be COLD. Weather forecast predicts temperatures in the low 30’s and snow for the game ❄️
It was cool to watch Monday Night Football this week and see former 49er Navorro Bowman on the sidelines coaching next to Jim Harbaugh for the Chargers (..although I wish they were both coaching on the 49ers sideline)

Game Recap
Each week going into the 49ers game I hype myself up: ‘This is going to be the week they figure it out and start playing like the 49ers we expect!’. Sunday vs the Packers was another letdown, and that’s putting it mildly.
Yes, the 49ers are absolutely riddled with injuries right now, and that’s a real challenge. However, the 49ers aren’t losing these games because they don’t have enough talent out there. They are losing because they are playing incredibly undisciplined football. The penalty numbers are staggering, and it’s not just how many/often the penalties are, it’s that they are coming at incredibly inopportune times. It feels like any time the niners get near the red zone or make any sort of big play, I wait half a second and then the yellow flag graphic pops up on the tv and I know the 49ers are going to start marching backwards. Also, back-to-back penalties for 12 men on the field… ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That’s atrocious stuff.
Along with the penalties and injuries, the 49ers apparently forgot how to tackle this offseason. The 49ers missed 19 total tackles in the game, and the Packers gained 113 of their 169 rushing yards AFTER contact. Those are pop warner football numbers.
If we were losing because we aren’t as good as these other teams, then that’s one thing, but when we are the ones beating ourselves, that’s tough to stomach. Even though the final score of that Packers game was ugly, we were right there and that was a very winnable game, even without Purdy, Bosa, Trent, & co.
I don’t agree with the people calling for Kyle Shanahan to be fired, but there’s no denying that the 49ers look like they are badly outcoached in most games this season, and we aren’t seeing improvements or ingenuity in our gameplans. Feels like we are doing the exact same things and making the exact same mistakes each and every game. And THAT is frustrating.

FOUR-ty Niners Graphics

FOUR-ty Niners Facts
1) Kyle Shanahan is one of the 10 highest paid coaches in U.S. professional sports. He is also the only coach on that list who does not have a championship.
2) There are 40 centers in the NFL that have played at least 100 pass-blocking snaps. Jake Brendel is ranked 40th in pass blocking.
3) The 49ers defense had 19 missed tackles vs Green Bay, and Fred Warner led the team with 4 missed tackles. There has been a very noticeable drop off in Fred Warner’s play since he suffered an ankle injury in week 4 vs New England.
4) The 38 points that the 49ers gave up against Green Bay are the most points they’ve given up since 2020.
Highlight of the Week
Throwback to much happier times last season when we went into Seattle on Thanksgiving and smoked the Seahawks! That was one of the most fun 49er games in a long time and vibes were absolutely incredible at that point in the season! A great way to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday 🦃

Yeah, it’s been extremely tough sledding for the 49er Faithful this season. We thought we had another team ready to contend for a Super Bowl, and instead we have a team that will need a mini miracle to even make the playoffs. Can’t say I’m optimistic whatsoever about going into Buffalo and beating the Bills, but maybe a Thanksgiving miracle is in store for us.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving, everyone!
Bang Bang Niner Gang!
